| United Methodist Women - Overview | The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. At Troy First we provide many mission and social activities for the women of our church. Ruth and Deborah Circles meet monthly to provide spiritual growth. Our rummage sales provide income to support many mission projects. Twice a year we make sandwiches for Central UMC in Detroit to support their lunch programs. In the summer we host a group from Eastside Ministries for an annual picnic. Meals are taken to hospital returnees and bereavement luncheons are served for church family members. Fellowship Luncheons encourage women to become better acquainted five times a year. We host a Christmas Tea and invite all of the women in the church to attend Mission giving
is divided among local, national and worldwide needs. Locally we support
the Women’s Survival Center, Detroit Central Sandwich Program, our Youth
Mission Trip, three programs of Troy People Concerned as well as other
needs that arise throughout the year.
